Joyce drags Tom to yet another festival, so I wonder if they'll be a murder there? Answer: Obviously.
This time it's a hippy dippy festival up at the barrow, scene of ancient Celtic relics and suspicious 30 year old accident.
Barnaby is still having to give Scott a look of dismay at the former's abrupt interviewing skills.
Scott takes the hint quickly.
Here we have Scott making one of the most iconic statements of Midsomer Murders: "Is the body count always this high around here, sir?"
"It has been remarked upon." Barnaby says dryly.
S7E3, The Fisher King includes 3 murders, 1 attempted, and 1 in a flashback.
They are of course gruesome, but not over the top bloody. There's one scene in which the killer stabs the victim several times with a spear which disturbed me (but of course, the viewer knows when it's coming so a quick eye squint and ear plug helps). Another victim is shot with an arrow through his bare back that exits through his bare chest (ew!), and another is found floating face down in a river. Other than those gory details, it's an interesting episode (no sexual scenes, hooray) with a solid mystery (served better in the second viewing) with a killer and motive that makes enough sense to be plausible and possibly even guessed before the end. No Cully here but Joyce is seen briefly at the festival. Scott saves the day in the last bit by breaking into a windowed door and capturing the culprit before said madman can off another victim. By the way, if this episode isn't a warning for those who commit adultery and sleep around, I don't know what is. Four different characters are revealed to be half siblings, though they had no idea!
Let's see what's next...
