Picture of Innocence, S10E6

S10E6, "Picture of Innocence," is a fun episode! It just flies by! There are a lot of names, details and suspects, but it all comes together clearly by the end. Someone is out to frame Tom, and he or she might just get our Inspector locked up! We get a glimpse into Tom's past when an ex-girlfriend from 30 years ago pops into the picture. Speaking of picture, the most annoying part of this one was the photographs of the scantily clad female that gets shown in way, way, way too many scenes throughout. There's a light hearted silliness to this episode, especially with that final scene -- Joyce and Tom's ex-girlfriend meeting---what, a hoot! And if you didn't think men had a reason to fight over anything and everything--wait until you see the manual camera gang versus the digital camera gang, it's quite hilarious. Another nice aspect is the many conversations between Tom and Joyce; we see inside their marriage relationship, which is something I've mentioned as being my favorite aspects of Midsomer Murders. Scroll down this post to see a few of those conversations. As far as the scenery, the atmosphere is overcast and chilly with only a few worthy exteriors and interiors, but, if your eyes can endure the constant eye rolling due to the overdone presentation of the boudoir photos, then this one is a contender for top 50 in the Midsomer chronicles. It's finely acted, notably, we see Peter Eyre the same from S2E2, "Strangler's Wood."   And Liza Goddard as the ex-girlfriend is a clever inclusion being that 30 years prior she had been John Nettle's love interest in Bergerac! Scroll and stroll, and find more on my Instagram: @omae.zing!
