Who Killed Cock Robin, S4E4.

This episode had some interesting and well-acted characters, but it just fell a bit flat for me. Joyce and Tom are seen eating a meal at home discussing Cully's upcoming birthday. Joyce accompanies Tom to a pub by a lovely little pond with ducks, but is again left alone while Tom follows up on a hunch. They also go shopping together at a cute little shop called Bits and Baubles.

The killers' motives are of greed and revenge, but the murder plot itself is drab.

Lovely English scenery here including large estates and horses and expensive interiors...

Destroying Angel, S4E2.

An interesting episode with 3 different killers involved in separate crimes (but we don't know this until the reveal at the end). Barnaby seems to have sympathy for one of the murderers (as does the viewer) since it's made out to be a sort of justified revenge for the original murder. 

Joyce appears throughout the episode and clearly one ups Tom in a game of backyard croquet (Cully is not in this episode). A wide shot illustrates the vastness of their yard with plenty of room to play!

Garden of Death, S4E1.

Filmed in the Village Hall, High Steet, The Manor House (as the Inkpen Manor), Frogmore Lane, Nether Winchendon, Long Crendon (Midsomer Deverell) of Buckinghamshire, S4E1, "Garden of Death," is one of the best episodes of the series. Interiors

One of the best episodes in my opinion with the dark story line moving at a balanced pace among red herrings and actual clues for the viewer to play along. Many well-acted and well-developed characters hash it out in another story of money, pride, and secrets. 

Happily, the unfortunate tropes of troubled gay persons or obscene sexual behaviors are absent in this one and have been in the last few if I remember correctly.

Funny bit about this one is the character of the gardener played by none other than Neil Dudgeon, whom we'll see take over the starring role as DCI John Barnaby of Midsomer when season 13 rolls around. Joyce is in this one as she drags Tom along on her usual weekend escapes for culture and history. No sign of Cully though.
