If you've ever wondered how the hoity-toity live and die, this is the episode for you. It's full of lies, greed, and what else---murderrrrrrrr. Ex-wives, heirs, adultery, and death--that's Midsomer for you. The opening scene is uniquely in black and white, but familiarly creepy (sullen nude adults moaning), yuck! Still, it's a right good ol' mystery with Tom unraveling it all in a classic WhoDunIt sequence at the end. The murder methods are not too gruesome and the characters are full of...character. We see Jones bust a move and break a heart. We learn that money can't buy class or decency or music tastes. We learn that our hero, Tom Barnaby, is "dreadfully" middle class (thank goodness)! Cully and Joyce make a brief appearance but are not involved in the plot. Plenty of lovely exterior shots and interiors (after all, it's set mostly on the fancy pants estate!). Stroll and scroll to enjoy!
